The AI's performance has been questionable from the start. For instance, in an article warning about AI’s unchecked role in historical documentaries, the AI tool bizarrely suggested that "AI democratizes historical storytelling." Worse, in a piece about the Ku Klux Klan’s past influence in California politics, the AI added a now-removed bullet point implying that the KKK was simply a response to societal change rather than an explicitly hateful movement. This flawed implementation echoes past AI blunders, such as Microsoft’s AI suggesting a food bank as a restaurant and Apple’s AI misinterpreting a news headline about a shooting suspect.

This debacle highlights the importance of responsible AI deployment in business. AI is a powerful tool, but it must be implemented with rigorous oversight to prevent reputational damage. Blindly relying on automation—especially in sensitive areas like media and content moderation—can backfire, leading to PR disasters and legal repercussions.
