After spending all night tweeting about it, the bird site is changing its feathers. Now, X.com redirects to Twitter.com, following a tweet from Elon Musk, Twitter's owner, and an "interim X logo" will soon replace Twitter's bird logo. Musk spent a lot of time tweeting about this change.
Musk then, over several hours, hinted at the change among other posts and replies, tweeting things like "Deus X," or responding to other users discussing the topic. At one point, he joined a Twitter Spaces session called "No one talk until we summon Elon Musk," and remained silent for almost an hour before unmuting himself and confirming that he would change Twitter's logo tomorrow, adding "we are cutting the Twitter logo off the building with torches."
Musk also reportedly sent an email last night to Twitter employees telling them the company would become X, and that it would be the last time he would send an email from a Twitter address, according to a Threads post by Platformer's managing editor Zoe Schiffer. She added that she supposes he was talking about the logo, as the Twitter business had already been renamed as X corp.
As for what the new logo will look like, Musk pinned a GIF that was posted by Twitter user Sawyer Merritt, who offered the logo, which he said was used for his discontinued podcast. Later Musk said he would opt for the "minimalist art deco" logo but would probably make changes to refine it later. Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino then shared the logo too, saying "X is here! Let's do this." It is now being used for Musk's profile picture.
